What If Life Has Been Speaking
to You All Along?

Have you ever had that quiet feeling that something is trying to get your attention? Maybe you've felt an unexpected nudge to do something differently, had a thought that seemed to come from nowhere, or heard that little inner voice telling you don't do that, only to ignore it and later wish you'd listened. Then there are the dreams that stay with us, the conversations that arrive at just the right time and those strange coincidences that make us stop and wonder.
We've both experienced this in different ways over the years. There have been times when we've found ourselves drawn towards something without really knowing why. An idea keeps returning, a book seems to arrive at just the right time, or we become curious about something we might once have dismissed. Often it isn't until much later that we understand why it mattered.
Looking back, we can also see that many of these things found their way into our lives when we were ready to see something differently. Sometimes we were searching for answers, but often we weren't searching at all. We simply followed our curiosity, and somewhere along the way discovered another way of understanding ourselves, what we were experiencing, or perhaps life itself.
The more we've paid attention to this, the more we've wondered how often these little invitations are there and we simply don't notice them. A quiet inner nudge. Something that doesn't feel quite right. A thought that arrives from nowhere. A coincidence with uncanny timing. That little voice we sometimes listen to — and sometimes ignore, only to find ourselves saying later, I knew I should have listened to myself.

When Something Keeps Getting Your Attention
Not everything that catches our attention is coming from within. Sometimes life itself seems to have a rather interesting way of joining the conversation. Something appears more than once, an unexpected conversation touches on exactly what we've been thinking about, or a person comes into our lives at a time when we seem to need what they have to offer.
We might call it coincidence, synchronicity or serendipity. We might believe Spirit has placed a small signpost in our path, or we might have absolutely no idea what it means. We don't think we always need to know. What matters is whether we're present enough to notice when something seems to be asking for our attention.
This is one of the reasons the Sacred Pause has become so important to us. When our minds are racing and our days are full, it can be difficult to distinguish that quieter knowing from all the other noise. A pause creates a little space between all the thinking, doing and reacting. It gives us a chance to notice what we're feeling before we dismiss it, explain it away or rush on to the next thing.
Our Inner Critic may have plenty to say later. Old beliefs can make us question ourselves, and our logical mind may want an explanation for something we can't explain. We've simply become less inclined to dismiss an experience because we don't immediately understand it.
There is room between believing everything and dismissing everything. Somewhere in that space, we can remain curious, use our own discernment and leave a little room for mystery.
The Inner Mystic in Ordinary Life
For us, the Inner Mystic isn't some particularly enlightened or spiritually gifted version of ourselves. She is the part that notices and wonders. She senses when something has stirred within her and is curious enough to stay with it for a while rather than immediately explaining it away.

And she lives in the ordinary world with the rest of us. She can contemplate the mysteries of the universe while putting the washing on, forget where she left her glasses five minutes after putting them down and still occasionally wonder whether that extraordinary coincidence really was just a coincidence. We rather like her for that.
The older we get, the more we see that the spiritual and the ordinary may never have been separate in the first place. The deeper conversations of life aren't necessarily happening somewhere far removed from everyday living. They may be woven through the people we meet, the things that stir us, the unexpected opportunities, the recurring ideas and those moments of synchronicity and serendipity that seem to gently whisper, pay attention to this.
Following the Signposts
When we look back at the many paths we've explored, they no longer seem quite so random. Some helped us understand ourselves differently. Some appeared when we needed comfort, direction or a different perspective. Others opened a door we didn't even know we were looking for.
Perhaps some were simply signposts Spirit left along the way. We noticed some immediately, while others only made sense much later. And no doubt we've walked straight past plenty without seeing them at all. That's part of the mystery, and these days we're quite comfortable with that.
Maybe awakening your Inner Mystic isn't about becoming more spiritual or finding the one path with all the answers. It may be much simpler than that. It may be about becoming more attentive to your own life, creating enough space to hear your inner voice and trusting yourself enough to explore what quietly draws you closer.
This is the spirit in which we created our eBook Awaken Your Inner Mystic — an invitation to explore your intuition, inner knowing and the deeper conversations of life with curiosity, rather than feeling you need to have all the answers.

There will always be things we can't explain, paths we haven't explored and signposts we haven't noticed yet. And thank goodness for that. Life would be far less interesting if we already knew where every path was going to lead.
And if someone came to mind while you were reading, perhaps share this Journal with her too. Sometimes the most meaningful conversations are the ones we pass on.
